Anschließend wird er zwei Konflikte darstellen, die exemplarisch für die Spannungen innerhalb des Amerikanismus sind: Die Individualisierung der Gemeinschaft und die Multikulturalismus-Debatte.
    Zwei Aufsätze bilden dabei die Grundlage für diese Hausarbeit. Der eine stammt von Hartmut Wasser aus dem Jahr 2000, der sowohl die Grundlagen des Amerikanismus als auch seine internen Spannungen beschreibt, der andere von James Davison Hunter aus dem Jahr 1996 , der sich vor allem mit den historischen und aktuellen Protagonisten innerhalb der US-amerikanischen Gesellschaft befasst.
